paid dance partners

Can you hire a dance partner for the evening? Or maybe for regular practise sessions or even to take a lesson with?
Its not common exactly in Toronto (I can't say 'here' cause I'm still in Columbus!) but its quite possible. I actually wonder if it makes more sense for a single dancer to hire a practise partner (the rates are always lower) to review lessons with than to take more lessons. Of course, it assumes the practise partner is at the level to at least do the steps...

I know this is very popular in some parts of the world. I have also heard that many dancers in New York do this as a means to pay for their own dancing.

I'm pretty sure that if an amateur did this in Ontario (except the elite) they would loose thier status and be declared pros.

Taxi dancers, supposedly common in ny/nj area and san fran area, particularly among asian ballroom dancers.
I'd be happy to hire out as a practice partner if anyone in Chicago area wants to pay me to dance.

Great idea - put a coin machine on his back - drop in a dollar, get 3 minutes dance

mind indicating how much it costs?
(I thought about it but couldn't find anyone suitable)
(wait a mo, I DID do this once many years ago - with a top senior amateur who was broke - but we kept the payment aspect secret...)

i guess depends on the pro's rate. in this case... his hourly, just like a lesson, with a two-hour minimum.
i've also hired a pro with another dancer, to share his time at a social.
