I've been unable to find video, so far. It didn't occur to me that Jerry Blavat's show pre-dated the VCR.  lol
I was reading that he was linked to the mafia - was even at a dinner when a mafia boss got killed...

That doesn't surprise me.  Philadelphia is a big mafia town.  And, when you consider that he stayed on the radio for more than 50 years, even through the payola scandal of the 60s(?), it would not be surprising if there was Mafia involvement.

How awesome!  I had forgotten all about this show that aired when I was in high school.  The studio was within walking distance of my house.

Holy moley!  Here's some footage of Madonna on the show. Whoda thunk?

1983.

It blows my mind that she was on the show at all.  It was a locally produced, dinky little show. I had several friends who performed on the show which was taped in multiple-hour blocks after school a few days a week.   (3-7 Monday through Thursday,IIRC)

Who knew Madonna would deign to visit such a show.  It was years ago before she made it big, I suppose.

According to wikipedia, Dancin on Air was broadcast in "seven eastern states."   Neat.

Oh my gosh!  It's back on local TV.  Definitely on air. Can't speak too highly of the dancing, if this footage is anything to go by. lol.

Nice that it's back, though.  I wonder if this speaks to a larger trend.  I hope so. Dance shows are a throwback to a more innocent time, but it was a good time.

every generation probably hankers backto a simpler time.  Maybe it says more about our age and poor memory than anything else Tongue
