Hey I am lucky than most and I do a lot to make sure my leg muscles support my knees....but it is unfortunate that I have always been active to end up with such a problem, you cant help genetics.
... swimming... its the one best load-free excercise.  but doesn't work well for weight loss

me too - my problem is heavy bones - I sink in water unless I keep paddling.  Thats why it was so amazing to swim in the sea where the salt gives you some added boyancy
