I have found that the comp dancers here tend to be far more accomodating thatn some of the soical dancers who get a bit miffed!
Yeah...you guys are much nicer about us accidentally cutting you off/running into you than some of the social dancers.
(Sorry, btw)
We are used to it - part ofthe game and we also know that one usually gets up without any broken body parts...

This is a tough crowd.
I have to say I'm having trouble following the conversation. Seems to me that social and competitive dancing are all mixed in here. tome, they're very different things and can sometimes even be dangerous to have on the floor together. Especially at socials with a mix of ability levels, competitive dance, especially routines, might not always be the rest idea.
I know of some competitive studios that run rounds, every so often. To me, if there's an option to run rounds, that's a much better place for competitive dance.

Social dancers might be scared of competition ones - but its each other that they should really fear: advanced competition dancers are highly adept at avoiding collisions, whether with a moving or static couple. Social dancers often learn long routines with no escape points and no floorcraft at all. Thus, once on collision course they have no way of avoiding other than stopping. Curiously thats one thing most couples seem averse to doing...

Oh I LOVE
almost
colliding with a social couple and watch the reaction on their face. I just smile and dance away, leaving them looking stunned there. Priceless!

...or miscalculate where they're going and dance right into them. Those pesky social dancers can be so unpredictable. lol.
