This springs from the current 'uploading your video' topic

I expected my extended family to be pleased, impressed and supportive of my dancing - it was quite a shock that while some were, others expressed the whole range of feelings from indifference to abject hostility.

What have others experienced?  Are your family (and friends) positive about your dance interest/obsession or are there other emotional currents there?

Yeah.  I have a few personal stories that I have to think about whether I want to share.

But yeah.  Families can be shockingly unsupportive of ones dance.

And as usual, you are likely to be the last to hear about it, such are the joys of gossip.

The only solace I think is that the biggest critics are usually the people with the most unsatisfying existence - my experience those who's vocations have been thwarted by personal circumstance.  Whats more depressing, perhaps, is that few people will actually come to your support.
