had a lesson today in Tango. this is the first lesson where we just focus on technquie (we have two standard teachers now!) intersting how our tango was too swing like in approach In defence of one of ourcoaches he has too many things t work o, so he works on the most pressing. our second teacher works on the refinement. I have seen a huge improvement in our dancing. but one thing that was brought to our attention that the one going backward in Tango has the power:P and I love it!

Why in tango does the one going backward have the power? What about the other dances? What does it mean to have the power ? If you do promenade in tango who is going backward?

If you do promenade in tango who is going backward?
I think the only answer to that is 'Yes'. Or perhaps 'No'.

I think the answer depends on the School of thought. In my experience, the man only indicates how much power he wants (presses the accelerator pedal) and the lady produces it. The man then hangs on for dear life.

I think in promenade I think you are in idle (the women) waiting for the lead from the man. I might be wrong I wait to hear!

Absolutely. The stronger an army is the less it will ever need to use force... Put that way its pretty obvious but the same applies all over....

It really all comes down to how you define 'Power'.
Are you meaning physical exhertion? Creation of space? Swing? Momentum? Centrafugal or Centripdial forces?
Its a mulit-faceted concept.

"Yes" I think with respect to humans anyway, true power comes from the same inner source, whaterver its manifestation...
