Thanks ttd - I was not aware of those.
And also look at the preceding page for all the options:
http://www.dancesport.uk.com/shoes/inter/

which is why I love internationa shoes too - even though the heel has broken inside in three pairs Sad
I've been using internationals for over 3 years and never had this problem. Although, I never attempted to change heel tips myself, I always go to the local shoe repair place.

Hi!

Yes, I am fairly tall - 5'8", so rarely is a short joke pointed my way  Cheesy
But that does make for noticable height difference. Which is especially apparent to me since he has such long legs.

You're right - I think it happens when I change tips, which I've always been able to do with other dance shoes.  I heard that the strengthener in the international shoes is plastic and not metal so maybe thats the difference.

Yes, a disparity in leg length can present its own problems (as in ouch Wink ).  that might be an interesting topic in the general partnerdance area...

One thing that I think should be taken into consideration when choosing practice shoes is that the heel height not only affects you, it affects your partner.  His hold is affected as well as the partnerships center of balance.  I always practice in the same height heels as I compete in - keeping in mind that I dance standard and my partner is 6'4" tall.

Happy dancing!

you and I have the same height difference my partner is 6'3 and I am 5'7 and of course wearing at least 2" heels...sometimes 2 1/2" changes it the dynamics again.

I once was social dancing with him and happened to have on 3" heel street shoes - perfect height, but my back and neck just can't take that. (to say nothing of my feet!!!)  So I stick with the 2 1/2".  I did find a pair of shoes that have a thicker heel than most (much more stability) and an elastic gore so the front of the shoe is very flexible - I like to be able to point my toes.  These are my practice shoes and if I'm wearing a flesh tone shoe to compete I use these as well. http://www.dancehappy.com/newqueen.html
