i was trying to describe the ballroom to family and realized I don't actually know what size ballroom floors are. Anyone know the rules for dancesport?

DF to the rescue
Its 66X42 for a championship competition floor, or 20X13 meters

Does your AM organization not have any rules?

[I changed the title so that we can talk about more things]
What kind of floor do you typically have?
The floor at Empire was gorgeous even though it was sectional (~1 meter square sections somehow attached together). The key was that there were no gaps and no ridges between the sections.

There seem to be basically two types of those sectional parquet floors. There's one type with a rigid underside; apparently that type is made to be laid over carpet, e.g., in a hotel ballroom. And there's a second type that has a flexible underside and apparently is meant to be laid over a hard floor such as concrete. At the comp we went to in Tunica a couple of months ago, they had a flexible-underside floor laid over carpet. It made for a very spongy floor. It was a little weird.

This particular floor was so spongy that you sank about half an inch when you stepped on it.
Doing anything like a toe turn, a pivot, or a heel turn was difficult.
