[I hope noone minds but on trying to link to my own video I realized we don't have a place for PDOers competition video links.  Since ttd had put one on this topic I thought it best to move the topic over here and give it a new title.  So the idea is: get a YouTube account, upload your video there and then provide a link and any extra info on this topic.  Cmon, be brave Wink

er, sorry for sitting in your post WE Smiley

Why did you have to delete your account?

ttd: what a gogeous video - wish I had one of me that good (which is why I have never posted one Undecided).  You guys were particularly good in the waltz I thought - those pivots are so light and together.  But do tell, what is your coach saying to you after the W?? seems as if you got quite a lecture Wink

Also how did you fare in this (if you care to share that is).  I could not see the whole field but guess you did particularly well in waltz and tango....

ttd: gorgeous photo!

Question: Why are the gents wearing normal suits with tie instead of tailsuits? What level is the competition? Championship or pre-championship?

yes I had noticed that also, but in Australia I have noticed some gents are also just wearing suits, I am not sure what the rules are about the code once you get to a certain level.

Hmmm...I thought the dresscode here for adults is proper dancesport tailsuits. Surely you do get the odd one or two gents who wear normal suit and tie, but the majority of level 2+ wear dancesport tails. What's different about the video is that seems like more than half of the gents are wearing normal suit and tie.

Thanks, guys! I don't remember what he said to me between the dances. It's been more than 2 weeks and it wasn't really important. If it was, I would have remembered.

The video is standard dancesport series event, which is an open-level thing (so we can do whatever we want, within limits of my abilities Smiley ). I guess it is a sort of a trend now that men wear suits instead of tails for standard.

We also have Smooth here in the States, and the men don't wear tails for that because they'll get in the way.  Since this is also Pro-Am we're talking about, a lot of the pros don't bother to have a separate set of tails for Standard when they're not the ones being judged.  In pro events most of the men still wear tails.
