my cat has a fungal infection by the bridge of her nose eye! I am currently treating it with an anti fungal cream hope that it works. It comes from the environment ( she often lies under ferns). It will take quite a few weeks for it to heal itself with treatment. But the thing it is contagious to humans (not prolific but it can happen) :-/ so I have to be careful with her day two of treatment and I can see improvements.

any tips on how to persuade a cat to use a cat flap? she will go through the hole if the flap is propped open but won't push it open herself..

she has been for a couple of brief sniffs in the garden and come back..

if she wants to, she will.  The more you try to make her, the less she will be inclined to do it!   Best way is to tell her to stay inside Tongue

Our cats are totally indoors - the problem with outdoor cats is that they fur gets manky - and they pick up fleas and ticks.  So do get her a flea collar...

its a gamble.  is yours a pedigree cat?  Pedigree pets are inbred and tend to have more issues.  My two cats, brother and syster, are 17 yrs old and have been with me for over 13 of those - each had only one major medical issues thus far costing about $1K each.  Thats less than $100/yr in medical costs.  I bet thats cheaper than insurance - and there is usually a 'deductable'.

Of course its a gamble...

yes I know what you mean. Tigerlilly has been with us since she was 6 weeks old and I have never had to spend that much either only on food.....the results come back on Wednesday, she seems no worse for wear at the moment.

With five cats the insurance gets expensive and they can also turn you down if they see fit which I heard is a real issue with some of the insurances.  My brother has it for his to dogs and it has been a Godsend though.  My luck I would get it for three cats and the two not insured would get sick.  I thought that if I put the money aside instead then I can get money ahead, and, I don't have to worry that the one that may get sick ends end up being the one that does not have the insurance and the ones that do never end up using it.

I have found the same ee.  Most of my cats have all gone on to old age with very few vet costs.  I have gotten the odd one that has had some issues but overall not many.  I think dogs are worse since they have a tendency to eat anything in site and get theirselves in trouble more.  The purebred dogs are vet bills just waiting to happen.

well it has come back that it is a skin cancer. they say it is very slow growing so that is good news....they are currently working through the options and they will try to freeze it. the rest of her is in good condition. fingers crossed Cheesy
