Well, it looks like taking a break is what I am going to have to do.
My general practicioner is sending me to a podiatrist and to physical therapy. We will see what they say about me getting back to dance.
thanks, everyone!

whatever you decide one thing you can NOT do - is stop posting here. OK?

have a good rest and there are always DVD's you can learn from, visualizing is still a good way to learn. Train your brain

DalD perhaps there is something you would like to take on on PDO to stay connected?

You could listen to Graham Parker's Pasion is no ordinary Word
It worked much better in a fantasy, imagination's one thing that comes easy
to me
'Cause this is nothing else if not unreal, when I pretend to touch you, you
pretend to feel
Passion is no ordinary word
Ain't manufactured or just another sound that you hear at night
We got new idols for the screen today, although they make a lot of noises
they got nothing to say
I try to look amazed, but it's an act, the movie might be new but it's the
same soundtrack
Passion is no ordinary word
Say how it feels, real useless ain't it
Wait until it bites right down inside you
The world is easy when you're just playing around
Everything's a thrill, every girl's a kill
And then it gets unreal
And then you don't feel anything
You don't feel anything
An object of desire you don't desire to be, I bet the shop window dummies
give in just as easily
I try to top but have to make you drop down to the floor
Moaning in the darkness as we fake some more
Passion is no ordinary word
Not just another sound that you hear at night

I am back!
I went into hibernation to study for my Series 24, which I did not pass, so I will be posting only sporadically until I pass the darn thing at the beginning of September.
I'm afraid all dance related activity, except for going to a comp to see my pro compete, is on indefinate hold as I don't see the podiatrist until mid-August. However, I still will be here! I don't know what I'd do without all my friendies here on PDO.

I'm sorry. The Series 24 is to allow me to supervise folks who sell stocks, bonds, options, mutual funds, etc. I have the certification that permits me to sell these things, but I need the 24 in order to be a "principal" for work.
Sigh.

in the old days a trident and some pointy ears and tail was good enough

If you have your Series 7, 66, etc, you've done quite well! Don't let the 24 get you down.
I know of a guy who had to take the bar exam 6 times before he passed. He's doing quite well with his own practice now.
Almost all of the malaise / burnout I've felt re: dancing has been due to other personal issues, not the dancing itself. I was a little fried after 3 showcase dances in one night last year but that was because I lived at the studio the entire week before - God only knows how much money I spent on private lessons for that (I still refuse to tally it up...)
