Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little 'stringy things' off of it. That's how the primates do it.
well, this primate has tried this canard and it never works. Besides, its hard to open the short pointy end, the banana gets mushed....

well, that kind of defeats the purpose doesnt it? If I use my teeth I get the whole darn banana peel in my mouth instead of just the little stringy things...

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil.
It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

I think they did a study on that and cheese stored in aluminium foil lasted exactly the same amount of time as cheese in, yes, cheese paper.

Hmmm, okay then how about this:
Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

here's an ancient cure for your lettuce. If its wilted put it in a bowl of water with a lump of coal. I am not kidding, it will crisp up.

Go to the pet store. Some of those black dog biscuits are coal. It helps neutralize poisons.

Fruit fly trap: Poke holes in lid of a jar (I use canning jar so I can wash jar and just reuse lid), and put in 1/2 cup cider vinegar. They climb in but can't get back out. Make sure to clean trap regularly though, as they die and will start to stink.
Cleaning Jacuzzi tub: Fill tub as normal with hot water, then add 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1/2 cup bleach. Run jets for half an hour, then drain and rinse. The vinegar deals with calcium/lime buildup in the inner workings, and the bleach helps kill any bacteria, mildew, etc in there.

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

on eggs, you can make poached eggs in the water by adding a little vinigar - but for me that ruins their taste!
poach eggs in little cups with water round them and a lid...
