Well I have quite a few pieces of gear the list is long. My main mixer is an Alesis32(16 Track) with a Fostex D-160 hard disk recorder but I now do a lot of Mixing etc in Cubase which can handle 150 tracks of audio, and I use Sibelius for scoring the music. I use a PC(hate the term) which is made by a company here in Canada called MusicXPC, as well as various rack mounted equipment.

well it is really. my son can hear a piece of music and then just starts playing. quite uncanny ....maybe he will go somewhere with it. he is quite talented in music, dance AND sports. he just hasn't found his passion .....sigh

My grandfather was one of those types that never took music lessons and couldn't read music but could pick up an instument fool around with it a bit to understand it then be able to play it. He could also hear a song and play it.

Yeah, from what I've read, Mozart was the ultimate child prodigy. Doing organ concerts at an age where he could barely reach the pedals...

Rachmaninov did a similar thing also, he would go and hear tchaikovsky conduct an original piece, go back with the comductor and play the enite piece on piano. Perfectly.
It's very interesting to see what form genius takes...

every now and then - usually after playing for a long while - I get into a state where the music seems to go from the sheet through my body and out of my instrument while bypassing my brain entirely.
I think this is sort of a musical nirvana...

Robert Fripp says, "When I'm going well, I do not play music. Rather, music plays through me."
