who
you mean there is a role model?
You've never heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd?
Assuming that's the origin.
It is but I will let him tell you how he got it.

My brothers dance partner came up with the name which is actually Glynnyrd Skynnyrd from the classic 70's rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Usually I just go by Skynn, never had a nickname before

Lynyrd Skynyrd was/is a band that was around in the 70's, their biggest hits was Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird. I'm a big fan of 70's rock, mainly the Glam bands of that era, especially the one one that wore 8" heels, spandex and makeup
so I will bring to the world of Ballroom dancing long hair, makeup and spandex

how weird that I missed the name - I am very familiar with the first song but somehow never came across the band. And I was most definitely alive in the 70s
