This is a bit different form qualifications - its much more subjective. I wondered if we could make a list of qualities that your coach does, or does not have and compare them?
First we need the list and then we will rank. Try to stay with me here ... Copy the list and add your own factors - we will rank later when we have a satisfactory one OK?
Here are some factors to start us off:
1. Achievements (championships/cred in your form of dancing)
2. Availability (
3. Book knowledge (training in fundamentals of dance)
4. Price per lesson (cheap/expensive)
5. Personality
6. Generosity
what am I missing (copy the list above and add your own catagory)

(My bold, so we could distinguish the new additions from the original list)
1. Achievements (championships/cred in your form of dancing)
2. Availability (
3. Book knowledge (training in fundamentals of dance)
4. Price per lesson (cheap/expensive)
5. Personality
6. Generosity
7. Punctuality
8. Reliability (does not cancel lessons on the day of unless it's an emergency)
9. Compatibility (do you and your pro get along?)

[like the bold - but maybe we should put those two into one? They are not the same but they reflect a very similar aspect...

Actually I've found they're quite different. I've had pros that never canceled a lesson but were habitually 5-10 mins (or more) late for every single lesson. On the flip side, I've had pros who canceled all the time but were neurotic about starting on time.

Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but she did it backwards and in high heels.
It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer.

When a man moves well, it really doesn't matter what he looks like to me. My teachers moved really well, but I wouldn't say any of them were particular hansom.
Sorry guys
Just my 2 cents worth.

Well, the male teachers that I had, that are still with us couldn't be mistaken for male models.
....and a few of them was absolutely heavenly to dance with.
