Flippy lived in an open broad ceramic bowl with lots of rocks and a waterfall that stood in my bedroom. Every morning he would come and nibble my fingers when I fed him. He grew to aoub 4 inches - but he started to go walkabouts and I would have to recover him from the floor. One day I was too late....
But this topic is not on the bad things, sad as his ending was, I have lovely memoryies of flip. This topic is to remember pets that we were fond of and all their antics......
I think Flippy was like Johnathan Livingston Seagull. Only instead of the art of flying and how far he could explore aerobatics he was exploring the art of swimming, which includes aerobatics up out of the water and landing techniques. Like Johnathan he died for his art. We salute his bravery and his advancements in the art of swimming.

You have to fight through a lot of crap before you find your way up out of the toilet. Sometimes I think I have a good hold on the rim then I slip back in. Each time I don't sink quite as deep though. - Rugby

me too - except the Olson name - I finally got them to breed (must be the only reluctant GPs on the planet) when our dog killed the mother
Such are the pleasures/perils of pets when you are young.

I had a great cat called Charlie; a real character
guinea pigs when I was a kid;
think I probably lost count they seemed to breed a lot.
Those are pigs that cost about a guinea, aren't they?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Hey, I got that from a book from the UK I had as a child.
don't ask me how, at 5, I knew that a guinea was a form of money, but I thought that quote was hilarious. I still have the book; its called "Guinea Pig Podge".

its 21 shillings by the way... wheras a pound was 20 shillings
why have two units that were so close I have no idea - but that was just the start of the confusion in british money - 12 pence was one shilling, two shillings one florrin 30 pence a half crown - we never saw crowns but they were twice a half (oddly logical) ...

I used to be able to converst British money to USD's and could tell you all the denominations of British money. I used to read a lot of British authors. I'm a true geek, for sure.

the first two are, I think, self explanatory - but the darling farthing with its robbin is not.
One farthing, a quarter of a penny! Ah, the says when money actually bought something
