The DASA local comp was well attended today...I believe there could have been a few more social medalists, well in all levels there could be more competitors. It was well run without too many mishaps. Floor was in good condition and not too slippery, it is known for being very slippery.
The ambiance was great. I hope that it will continue to grow. It was great to see the youngsters they did a wonderful job....

The next local comp is the Local State Titles In August.

We'll be at the next one, upping the social/medallist count by 2

It started off being quite slippery last night, but we had some soap scraped all over it and it got a lot better. Perhaps it was left over from that?

Definitely going there. Not letting DP get away with this one (he likes to avoid comps. We need the experience)

Ok. I got confused over the slippery thing. I've never found the Macedonian to be slippery at all. It has been just perfect to dance on every time I've been there.

The floor at the Macedonian Hall is a very nice sprung floor, problem is that, outside the competitions held there, the floor is so fast it resembles an ice rink. A fair bit of the comp dancers get there for a practise every week but some walk away with strains if not careful.

On competition day the floor is great but that is because the organisers do a great job in protecting us from injury, besides the Latin section would not survive the natural floor which is fast because people, wearing street shoes, bring in dust and dirt on days that floor is used by non comp events or social events.

It is the same story with most of the social dance clubs/studio floors, to fast to accommodate those people that don't wear dancing but street shoes

Yes so far I have found that most of the dancing floors for a comp have been well prepared. it just adds to the confidence. Nothing worse that feeling you are going to loose balance or slip
