Recently having had this knee injury I was staggered to see how many others are having the same problem and it is not age defined, it crosses over all age groups. One has to wonder if the technique we are being taught is correct or is it the floors that we are dancing on. Ok mine is Arthritis but has anything I have been doing exacerbated it?

Any good ways that you know of it to get rid of swelling... I am icing lots and also not useing the leg to walk on.....week two going into week three after the surgery
powerful natural anti-inflammatory things you can both consume and use topically:
** "MSM" which is a kind of crystallized sulfur -- potent assistance against both pain and swelling, and sulfur is absolutely necessary for healthy soft & connective tissue.
** noni juice -- potent adaptogen and anti-inflammatory; "tahitian noni" juice at
www.tni is IME the best and certainly tastes the best. can't say enough good things about this.
** turmeric, in both powder and fresh root form -- serious anti-inflammatory
you could also order some "magnesium oil", which is magnesium choloride-saturated water, and use it topically. all together, these would help accelerate your healing.
but (once the swelling is down) to help rectify the imbalance or misalignment that may be at the cause of the problem, are there are any Rolfers and/or Meridian Stretching professional in your area? both of those tinker very personally with your body mechanics to create *seriously noticeable* improvements. awesome for dancers... i had a knee glitch that my Merdian Stretch & Resistance Flexiblity Trainer helped fix -- it was a misalignment of a muscle attaching to the knee from the groin area, which is also (always) affected by the opposite side of the body, the outer thigh, so she helped me remediate both area. i sure could use her help again now for the same thing... i have a tendency toward that misalignment.
wishing you speedy healing, Q!!!
