Nope.  Nothing pulled up progressive used as a noun.  I'll google a bit.

Progressive dances here tend to be sequence dances made up of short repeating patterns. Once a pattern is finished, the lady moves on to the next gentleman (progressing onto another lead). During one song, you usually end up dancing with everyone on the floor. It's a good way to get to know other leaders that you might not usually dance with, and for them to get to know you as well.

Thanks, Spiral. Smiley

So you really don't get a chance to refuse dances, but you don't get stuck with any undesirable partner for too long.  Cool. Smiley

these date back at least to the middle ages - there are a lot of folk dances - such as Scottish flings - that do the same thing.  It must have been a wonderful way for youngsters to meet new suitors at one time...

And get a forbidden touch or two -- what the Ex used to call "catching micro feelings." lol.  Hardly titillating nowadays, but it must have been quite exciting, back in the day.  Nice. Smiley

I'm so glad that our relationship is far enough in the past that I'm beginning to remember the good stuff. Cool

I think it's OK to refuse a dance sometimes. Sometimes I get asked by the ladies, I accept most of the time, except for certain dances like Quickstep or Viennese Waltz (both of which I am horribly incompetent at), Salsa (which I lost interest in altogether) or Meringue (just cannot warm up to it at all).

me too. I have good days and bad days with my legs and it is not always the knees it is the surrounding muscles and tendons that cause the problem, currently I have  a muscle knot or(tear) behind the knee very sensitive and the muscles feel very tight. might need to go for a massage.
