I was going (to do pro/am), then I wasn't (to do pro/am) and now I might be again (to do AM!)
One of the BIG attractions is lucas and lorraine's show...

I always think of it as a 'new' competition - but maybe I'm just comparing it to the classique. Has it been going that long?

fraid we are off again - DP just informed me that that is the weekend that he is going camping
the question is: is it worth driving all that way just to see the showcase?

I'm hoping to go watch, but I'm much closer. Also might have a bit of a conflict with a workshop that weekend.

nope - unless you want to also check out some of the Montreal Jazz Festival events ...
personally, unless I am competing I don't go to comps (unless they don't run Pro-Am like at the Cdn Closed)
Sniff, I'll be disapppointed not seeing you dance ED

Are you coming to kingston in Sept? I'm definitely doing Am there and probably also doing pro/am - which I am sure is way more of my dancing than you need to see

Yeah, I hope you come to Kingston DF, we could have a mini PDO reunion. And take Rugby's picture.
If I can I like to go to a comp where my studio-mates are competing and give some support, but it's hard to not dance when everyone else is. In a perfect world I would like to do pro/am there but everyone says my pro won't be ready. SHE says she will but that's an awfully short time between having her baby and being ready to compete. Two months, by the way. On top of that there will be a large gap in my training regardless of whether she is ready or not.

Planning to be in Spain and/or Italy in September. If that falls through, I might make it to Kingston, ON (not Jamaica, mon).

Are you telling us that there is no other female pros in your home studio that can step in and do pro-am with you? Not very good succession planning - you cannot be the only one affected. No one else in town that you could at least train with?

In this town the pros are not so thick on the ground. My studio is an independent and more of a collective so all the pros go their own way. There is one lady I could go with but she has a long time student who is my age category and dances at my level, so that's a no-go. Other than the FA and AM gangs I don't see many of the pros going to comps. Financially it would be more expensive too; my latin coach would consider doing Standard but with her costs my competition would be muy expensive.
