Independence Day Ball will take place July 1 - 5, 2009 at The Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Executive Center in Rockville, Maryland. IDB 2009 will feature five days of World-Class instruction, Latin and Standard workshops and social activities.
Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy from Dancing with the Stars, will be two of 16 amazing instructors teaching at our event, which we are very excited about. Not only are they on TV, but they are also fabulous dancers. (Karina is 2nd in the World in Latin for several years! Maks is a Blackpool semi-finalist!)

This year Independence Day Ball dance camp will feature over 150 workshops from World-Class instructors. Four concurrent workshops will be taught every hour:
• 2 Latin (Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Paso Doble)
• 2 Standard (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz).

We offer an Advanced track for Open and Professional level dancers.

Reporting from the independence day ball and championship dance camp .... what a weekend so far. Ily Z. and Elena G., the organizers of this event really know what they are doing and how to cater to the ballroom community! This event is an absolute must for anyone who wants to further their dancing "career".

Let's break it down a bit.

-Price is absolutely reasonable (think about it, with these instructors ALONE ... to be taking classes or coachings from, would not be this affordable. AND the attention they give you, even in the groups!)
-The hotel is simply gorgeous and very accommodating.
-Easy access from the airports, train station and right off the beltway (495) literally!
-World class judges, adjudicators, teachers, etc ...
-Instruction from the basics to the advanced dancer
-Specialty in AT, Showdance, etc ... with much more to be added at additional camps in the future.

Some perks, of course you get to talk to the instructors on a more intimate basis, without them being completely mobbed. The dance social goes til the wee hours of the morning, to put your new moves to use. the showdance preformed is freaking awesome for only 3 lessons. Etc....

So a bit later I will give a more detailed account of the event and WHY you really need to attend in Florida at the end of the year OR this time again next year.

One thing ... I know we have discussed it elsewhere about doing ballroom dance camps. OK .... uh we have it! So now it is about attending them. And I am really amazed a the caliber of people teaching. This is something I intend to be at every year, and with luck ...both of them!

yes ...

my suggestion is to please talk with Ily. He is on FB and he was asking (and I showed him) this site.

I suggest you talk with him because
1. the new yrs ball and camp is coming up in FL. So there is something. (I am going and work it too....Ily & Elena are the best and just positive and really know how to promote ballroom! Love them!!!!)
2. you know what you want to do with this place. =)


anyway ... will update tomorrow. I am hoping to get some pics from some friends and videos too! It has been a total blast and wow you just LEARN SO MUCH!!!!
