My interest is in stress signaling pathway. The Stress Activated Protein Kinase family of MAPK!

Ah, the good ole' MAPK.  I met the guy who discovered that at (you won't believe this) the ohio star ball.

Its a great story - there I was dressed to the nines in my comp gown (complete with a poultice of makeup) sitting in the bar post heats and next to me is this handsome guy looking out of place.  I asked him if he was at the comp and he was with his wife.  So by way of conversation I asked what he did in real life - he said he was a scientist.  Oh, thats nice I said and what kind of research?  He replied he studies how cells divide - cancer research.  I pressed on - and what aspect?  now he looked a bit uncomfortable with the prospect of explaining his work to a lay woman (who looked like a hooker to be honest) and answered (scientists can not be honest) how they signal inside.  Oh, yes I replied signalling - which pathway.  Now he started to stare at me - well MAPKinase neat I said and which aspect to you work on.  At this point he started to blow - well all of it.  I'm Tom Stargill, I DISCOVERED it.  How nice I replied, and I'm Elise Stanley and I discovered ... (won't bore you).  Suffice it to say I had the upper hand through the entire encounter.. the last person he expected in a ballgown was a fellow scientist (if a far less famous one I hasten to add).

Yes Please! So I talk geek when I'm in the lab.....which is about 6 days a week...maybe 6 and half, the other half day is for dancing and nothing changes it ..NOTHING!!! My partner should come and read this, she'll be very proud of me! LoL

Adelaide was a good comp - enjoyed it a lot, even if all the Victorian competition was most unwelcome ;-)

My partner was drop dead beautiful as always <3, and we danced pretty well.
