I'm in the middle of "The Well of Lost Plots" by Jasper Fforde.  It's the second book that focuses on the character of Thursday Next, Literary Detective.  The first book, "The Eyre Affair", was a very entertaining read and I highly recommend it.

Coming up in the To Read pile:

"Turn Coat" by Jim Butcher (yay Harry Dresden!)
"Fuzzy Navel" by J.A. Konrath
and finally re-reading "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by Gregory Maguire

I just read a really really ood book - The Trout Opera by Matthew Condon. It was just so well written; the writing sounded like Australia, which was where it was set, and I got such a vivid picture from everything written. I really recommend it.

I did read Wizards First Rule, which I liked okay, but not enough to read the next book.  And, Emerald, you are right, the series on TV is TERRIBLE!  I couldn't even watch one episode.

I have read the Fforde books, too, but I read like 3 or 4 in a row and got a bit burned out on them, but I do remember laughing out loud at them.  Very clever books.

Right now I am reading a fantasy series by Michelle West (they are older) and I like them very much.  And, due to the stress in my life lately, I picked up some of my favorite children's books.

I'm afraid I usually turn my brain off when I read, apart from losing myself in the book.  You must be much more analytical than I!

Oh, I over-analyze everything and I did drive my pro crazy with my wanting to know how and why everything worked, but I did actually work very had on doing more feeling than thinking during my lessons. 
I have never had a problem, though, turning off my mind and diving into a good book!

I just finished reading a book by Jorge Molitz, The Ring. It is a historical novel. Not what I was expecting, a bit dry to me.

If you haven't read "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire, do it!!  It's really fantastic.  Though I guess it's not for everyone, both of my parents read it and found it a little too...something....not sure what.  I don't think they liked the way the book looks at the characters' psychology.  Found it a bit slow, I think.  I guess it isn't much of an action book, but I enjoyed it very much (each of the zillion times I've read it).  Also love anything by Garth Nix, which is more fantasy based.

I love books that look at character psychology, so I'll check it out. I'm interested i psychology in general, so I really like getting inside the characters' minds.
