Stoning Dress Questions

ok ... here we go
1. Where is the best place or places to buy Swarovski stones
2. What size and color (see pic of color of dress)
3. How many for a standard dress (enough to add pizazz and splash without being gaudy)
this is almost the exact color of the dress I am having made
however my dress has a matching plum chiffon with flat mirrored sparkles on it that is beautiful, it is being used in the skirt pleated areas (make sense?) instead of the triangular way it will be more of circular so when it is in motion on the floor it looks like it is constantly moving. (do not know if I am explaining this right but ....)

Tanzanite looks close to your color.
I will have to let wiser minds determine this though!

ok. let me start.
first size of the stones should be ss20. i would like to see a model of the dress so that i can suggest you how to put stones. or just send me a dress and i'll stone it.
i don't know about the sites here in US. i know danceshopper have the stones, but i mostly ordered my stones and al the things for the dress from nevtex.com.
they are in UK. and i like them because they are fast and not pricey.

You'd really need a sample piece of fabric to accurately match the colors, as well as actual stones. Do you have a sample of the fabric?
I have stone sample cards from DanceShopper and Rhinestone Guy if you'd like to borrow them. The DanceShopper card is a few years old and so doesn't have the brand-new colors, but it's got enough to accurately match your fabric. I could either mail you my sample cards, or you could mail me a fabric sample and I could match it for you. Let me know!

i have it too.
when you stone a dress you need to know how to put the stones. it is not just a color of a fabric.

do you have to make a pattern of how you are doing to lay them on the dress? I can't imagine that you just plonk them anywhere?

If it is a "scatter" pattern, it would seem that they are plunked. When I have a one color dress, the stones are usually 2-4 colos to add dimension.
Sometimes it is a good idea to have a clear stone card. You put it on top of the fabric, so you can see how the different colors look on the fabric. As far as how many - alot!!! When you are sure you ordered enough stones, you usually need 50% more!

well .... I am going to stone my own dress. I am actually quite artistic and can be very demanding OCD type of person. I like perfection (to my minds eye) and if someone else were to do it, I may be just a tad to picky for them. If I do it I can be satisfied. LOL
I will be doing no real pattern, I am a minimalist and can "see" what it is that I want and how I want it. I just ned to see the completed dress to "see" my vision of what I and and then start on it.
My biggest thing will be the stones, what stones, what size, how many, etc ....
I will be getting a Swatch tomorrow for my fitting.

Will someone please give me a website or two that I can buy some Sworoski stones? I do have a vendors license, whisch should get me a better price.
I am also trying to find Lonnie's---he used to sell used ballgowns. Or any other company that you have had good resale results would be appreciated. I have 2 Chrissannes I want to sell.
Thanks!
