Hi C - great to hear the DW is back on her dancing feet, sorry about the flu but at least that will pass.  I take it the surgery was successful then?

Seems to have gone well.  The toes still don't bend enough for her to be able to do smooth -- she can't take the back step.  She can dance rhythm, though.  We've been able to dance rumba, cha-cha, ECS, and WCS.

Sounds good - I hope she's still on physio to get her full mobility back...

Excellent!  Was this your competition DP, or someone else?

Last night's Atlanta Metro Dancesport dance was just WONDERFUL!  Grin

EVERY dance was pure joy, and some of the highlights for me were:

A Hustle with a competitive dancer that I just didn't want to end, yes I enjoyed it that much, and she sure was creative too!

Foxtrot with a pro/teacher (who did a Cha-Cha performance earlier in the evening to AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long"),that had me in STITCHES, she has this way of making you laugh with her facial expressions, and she sings while dancing too, quite nicely I must add. She also gave me a great compliment on how creative my dancing was.

Odd coincidence, nearly all my best dances were with women wearing red or some variation thereof.

Friday I went salsa dancing at El Rancho.

Saturday I did the Sat afternoon salsa social at Bloor Street united church, the music is terrible there, I find it very hard to hear the count; it's almost jazz, lots of breaks and syncopation and percussional meandering...where's the 1? LOL

Saturday night I did the United Salsero's event at club viva dance. They bought in the world champs and there were lots of performances and much social dancing. United salsero's mostly dance on 2 so again the music was strictly anything goes...hahaha don't laugh i'm on 5 again arhhh!

Sunday at toronto ballroom with DP for a couple of hours. Then dancing around a tennis court for a couple of hours, then westway club for social ballroom with Wendy. Had a nice time. I help set her up with a prospective comp partner, don't know how they'll get along but I did my part to help. Saw Graham there, hello Graham.

New crew and straight days shift at work so that will allow me to practice at 3 every day. Whoo hoo. All our routines are coming along nicely and starting to really enjoy them. Today the practice was sublime. We both left with big smiles on our faces. Oh to do what you love!

Had a great time at a social tonight. We danced almost everything, and were generally silly.

Only downside of the night was getting reprimanded for 'showing off' (so, what? DP spins me twice, compared to most people's complete lack off). Pfft. We'll dance well if we want to. Not hurting anyone by dancing well.

But yeah, good night.

Oy vay!  The complaint of the very ordinary 'don't be different'.  Thats why its so important to treasure and encourage difference when you see it...

WTH?Huh  Shocked  Roll Eyes

Sounds like someone there was more than a slight bit jealous. Man, I thought social dances were supposed to be FUN, and somewhere where you could stretch out, be creative and enjoy. Looks like someone didn't get that memo.

Can't say I've ever gotten reprimanded for being different or being creative on the dance floor. In any case I'm glad the night went well regardless of someone with nothing better to do than be snooty.

Social dancing last weekend kind of fun .... remind me that DP is still a gem.

Sometimes it is easy to compare him with how the other open level competitors at comps and getting really dissatisfied esp when we don't place well.

But then we go social dancing and I know that he is still a lot better than most leads.
