A wonderful 3 days for me, WCS and Two-Step on Friday, my WCS is coming together more and more each week and I am very encouraged. I am so glad I gave WCS another shot after walking away from it some years back. Some folks couldn't believe I had only been doing it a year.
Saturday was a new spot and something a bit different, blues dancing, very sultry sexy and fun to some great old blues jazz, slow swing, old R&B/soul and the like, there were some VERY creative dancers in that room, including this one lady I danced with who seriously moved like a cat
Sunday afternoon with the Waltz Play folks was so cool too, made even more so by the return from a long vacation by a lady who I LOVE dancing with and hanging out with too, she's seriously starting to intrigue me and pique my curiosity. When I walked in the room, she came up and threw her arms around me witha big smile saying how much she missed me and dancing.

This has been such a fun weekend for me, Two-Step and WCS on Friday, starting to feel more at home with both, still have some folks saying they can't believe I've only been doing either dance for just a year.
Saturday was a Jack & Jill bash (featured dance was Rumba), didn't win but still had a great time and a wonderful partner to boot. Also summoned up the nerve to do some Two-Step with a Two-Step champion competitor, Rachel Jones, she is a BLAST, even more fun was a Waltz with her and she just pulled out all the stops, even doing several twirls on one leg! She has an amazing sense of balance and core strength.
Sunday afternoon capped thing off very beautifully with lots of Waltzes, getting to dance with one of my very favorite folks who is seriously piquing my interest Went home very happy indeed.

you just seem to have such a blast. Obviously you aren't a competitor

HAHAHAHAHAAA!! Except for the occasional friendly Jack & Jill, I definitely don;t have delusions about being a competitive dancer. If I was half my current age I might think differently.
Seriously though, I DO have a blast on Atlanta's dance floors quite often.

when you are competition-track its easy to forget the actual point of being able to dance! Come to think of it, I haven't been for yonks.

Ditto. Let's face it we all started dancing to go out and dance. We get so focused on competition we forget our roots.

Cowboy bar with my best friend-who-happens-to-be-a-guy. Interesting. Two step and hustle. Very peculiar combination. Fun, though.

Most of the social dancing we do here is either NV, STD or Latin... it is separate scene for other styles of dance. we social dance quite regularly.

Hi Everyone, haven't gotten onto this forum for awhile...
This is technically not my "last weekend social dance," but they are the socials I did in like a couple of years.
I went back to my school (and all my ballroom friends are at) after I was done with my obligation here in Taiwan, and I danced with people I knew, and people I saw on youtube (I still kept an eye on the competitions my team went). The feeling...was a mixture. On one hand, I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy to dance, to move to the music, and to shake my butt :X and had a blast. How much I miss dancing, oh dear...I was lucky that the socials I went to were all on a beautiful hall with fabulous floor. I saw people I knew, and they had improved so much, especially since one of the socials was also a showcase (of my team), so I had the chance to watch them dancing fullout...and I felt that I am still at the same spot. Quite frustrating and depressing, tbh.
Then I visited my ex-partner, which is in another city. And it is interesting to see and to experience different dance community. We had a blast, of course. We always liked to dance with each other. She is very fun to dance with...and apparently, she is like the "favorite" in the community. I am very proud of her.

Sounds like a mixed bag, millitiz. Glad to see your friends, sad that your dancing studies are on hiatus for a while. Hang in there. I'm sure that, if/when circumstances allow for you to go back to studying dance again, you'll get back up to speed more quickly than you think possible.
I am glad that you had such a positive meeting with your former partner.
