"Born in Jerusalem 31 years ago, Yasmin Levy was introduced to Ladino singing and culture from a very young age. Her father was the leading figure in the world of research into and preservation of the Judeo-Spanish culture, dating back to the 15th century in Spain. Today, it remains one of the most moving and romantic musical traditions of all times. In her deep, spiritual and moving style of singing, Yasmin preserves and revives the most beautiful songs from the Ladino/Judeo-Spanish heritage, mixing it with Andalusian Flamenco. Yasmins debut album Romance & Yasmin created a stir amongst world music lovers across the globe. Her new album La Juderia, featuring Ladino and Flamenco music in her unique emotive style has been recently released in Europe. In 2004, she performed at various international festivals and events including WOMAD Singapore, Forum Barcelona, and the BBCs New Years Day concert in London. In 2005 she toured the UK, Europe and the USA, including appearances at Londons Ronnie Scotts and WOMAD festivals in the UK and Spain. In November she performed in Paris to launch the release of her album in France, she appeared in the most important music TV show in the UK Later with Jools Holland and in December she closed the year with her debut performance at New Yorks Carnegie Hall. In 2006 she has already appeared in Belgium, France, England, Wales, Scotland and Mexico and is due to appear in Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Portugal and the UK. Yasmin has been nominated for the BBC World Music Awards 2006. "

”We need a witness to our lives.  There's a billion people on the planet, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything.  The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things, all of it, all of the time, every day. "
