help me buy a cell phone/PDA

here is the one that I have.... as I said the only thing that I notice if I use the games a lot the battery does not last long but if I use if for a phone only it will be last a few days....but I put it on charge very night.

I am happy with it.

The last one on the page - samsung nexus S is called the gallaxy IIS here I think - which is the one I was looking at

Amazing how dated these threads can become.  I guess that's high tech for ya.

Any thoughts on the new Blackberry(Z10 I think?)   I had a Blackberry Curve years ago,but it became obsolete,so now I have a Samsung smart phone that I am happy with.  Nice big screen that slides out so you  can aces the real keyboard that's hidden underneath.

Dated - I love my galaxy II - How come you sign up for a three year contract and then the phne is dated after 1 year?  Whats that about...  I heard about the BB release but know nothing about it - what does it do that the others do not?

I think that the cell phone manufacturers deliberately update the hardware constantly so you'll have to keep buying new phones.

And dated:   Yes.  I said it.     When this thread was started, BB was on top of the world. Since then, I've read a bunch of articles about its demise.  This new Z10 is supposed to be the last hope for revitalizing the brand.

All I know is that my old curve came with a 72-page instruction booklet, and I needed every page.  My Samsung (gotta check to see what model) came with a one-sheet quick start guide that I barely used.

we buy them for all the features - and then use them to text, call someone, and check PDO.

I'm too much of an old codger to keep up with new technology, so, if I need to do something complicated, I just get my son to do it.

trouble is sons grow up and leave - mine is 3K miles away so not much help with the cell phone

Good plan - until you realize he plays video games, watches sports and drinks beer all day and still expects you to do his cooking cleaning and laundry.  It gets old...

I can imagine. Good thing I was just kidding. Asking the son to do stuff, at this point,is mostly about stroking his ego.  It makes him feel good to be able to do things that I "can't." When he leaves,it'll be a lot like when his Dad left -- I'll have some growing pains, but I'll adjust.
