Could't figure out whether to post about affectionate kittens or "our staff."  Still thinking about it.  Grin

And no. that doesn't weird me out.  I've been on the internet too long to think that privacy is anything other than an illusion. Cool

Its nothing insidious.

You can spy on me too - its just a funny thing on this forum program.  Look at the bottom of the home page and you can see who's on line.  Clickon that and all the current users are shown - most of them are 'bots' (google and the like; many originate in china) but you will also see the name of any current user and where they are.

Thats how this topic got started when we found out we could catch each other - the best is when you catch someone spying on everyone else Smiley

Oh yeah. It's more humorous than anything, I think.   I think it depends on which forum software you have.  I belong to some where you can see who's online and others where that info is hidden.

I could hide it - but why?  I certainly don't want to really spy on anyone.  I actually have very lmited additional information - your IP address and of course the email you signed on with and thats it.  I have a sheet where I can see who logged in.  Not much for the CIA there!

The printout I get just says guests or gives usernames.  Is there a way to tell which of the guests are bots and which are lurkers?

not for you - I can search their IP addresses, but its hardly worth it.

Ahh.  I was just wondering is the SPYING tool could be used to measure increased activity on the site (as we increase it  Grin )  Short answer: Not easily.

So I'm just going to assume that all the guests really are guests.  Hey . I can think positively, if I want.

That you can do easily.  On the home page scroll down to Forum Stats and click 'More Stats'.  You will see the jump in postings - but note that the page views stays about the same.  I think the reason is that most of the latter are bots visiting the forum.
