Level 1 coaching exam? I assume that's similar to the ISTD bronze-level teacher exam. You have to be intimately familiar with everything at the level and demonstrate the ability to teach it. Is that right?
I had actually contemplated going for something like that, years ago, but ISTD examiners are few and far between. The closest is hundreds of miles away. He does a comprehensive teacher training program, but it's at a studio near him. Back then, I was married and refused to contemplate moving away rom the spouse. Now, I plan to keep son in the same high school with his friends until he's ready for college.
*sigh* Maybe then I can go after my goal.
Just curious. What kind of training is required for you to be eligible to test for the level 1 coaching exam?

Its a goal - but to me dancing ballroom without a partner - as I think you do for medals - makes no sense at all. I'm not sure I could do basic routines anymore...

There are set figures that are in the "Grey Book", Associate, and Licentiate, you will be asked questions about those figures and asked to demonstrate them as well that is across all the standard dances

For ISTD student exams, you dance the figures with your teacher, at least for bronze and silver.
For teachr exams, you have to be able to demonstrate the figures separately.

Hmm. That sounds familiar. I'll look up the ISTD requirement. I may have been getting things mixed up. The teacher with whom I took these exams had at least two different sets of certifications,so I have to check, to be sure of the levels.

I checked.
The levels are associate, licentiate, fellow. And ISTD is active in 75 countries. Are we talking about the same thing from different angles, QPO?
The bronze, silver, gold certifications are in-house to a franchise.

Okay. So ISTD does administer exams in Australia. The dates for 2013 and 2014 have been posted.
http://www.istd.org/examinations/international-examinations/
IDTA also administers exams with same levels -- associate, licentiate and fellowship.
Not sure which you're interested in, QPO, but it looks like we're talking about similar things.
