We could possibly get rid of a few of the NV dances and bring some new ones in but no, no NV Latin please.
I think it is always good to review what is done to keep it up-to-date. I find that some organisations dont like change. It is good to discuss the different views
The 15 competition New Vogue dances that are currently there are ok. There's a nice balance between beginner and advanced, basic and "open for creativitiy" dancing across the four rhythms. There's a nice sense of progression from Merrilyn to Charmaine and Carousel, to Barclay Blues and finally Excelsior (for example), and it's a pretty gentle learning curve compared to Latin and Ballroom.
Personal distaste aside, which New Vogue dances do you think don't
belong, and what would you replace them with? I hate the Tangoette, but it's a very good initiation dance to the La Bomba and Tango Terrific.
I guess what I'm saying is that the 15 New Vogue competition dances are good, because they provide a good balance and even and fair learning curve for people. I can't imagine any dance not having its place in competition.
