Decision to go pro?

well old-pro (who's half my age by the way) was doing OK in amateur but decided to go pro to put himself through college.  Well, to be more specific, so that I could put him through college, which is in essence what I did.

Talk about a multipl ebenefit - fabulous lessons with a charming guy, terrific dance and competition partner - and the money paid put a really decent person through college.  I'd say that that was money well spent...

I would agree!  Good for him, and for you too.

(and, depending on what happens occupationally, I'm seriously considering poking at him to see if he'd be interested in working with me...I may bug you for contact info)

Maybe your mom can help you with that. I am sure she would/will tell you to dream it, visualize it and know it to be a fact.

I guess you should consider making you impatience an asset rather then a hindrance. Just my 2 cents worth

Yes I believe while she is human after all, she is in a place to teach me. Thankfully. It is because of this that I respect her words and will listen. I also know she will scold me when needed too. That I appreciate as well. I am the type of person, like a child, that needs to know the boundaries and when tested, to be reprimanded. It is something in my nature that helps me to learn in the best way. I will have to ask her that very question. Thank you for raising it. I suppose I knew it needed to be asked, but you clarified for me what exactly I needed to ask. Thank you so much for that.

Going pro just because of age? Here in Australia, adult is usually between 16 and 35, then people go into masters! I know people who's going to turn pro once they hit 35 because they do not want to compete in masters.

I still have another 14 years! So maybe ... ...

I think he would be terrific for you - actually you'd be good for each other - he also needs some more advanced students....  I don't regret a cent i spent on lessons with C...

thats interesting - it sounds as if 'masters' is regarded as a higher level than adult?  Is that what you mean?  Here its called Ault II or Senior I and the implication is definitely that you are over the hill

Do you HAVE to go into master's at age 35 or can you stay in adult or do both?  Here its the couples choice...

Yea...seniors. I don't know why they call it masters either, suppose to make you sound more experienced?
Over 35 is senior I, over 55 is senior II.

I don't think you have to go into seniors, but since most people in adult are in their 20s, so it might be obvious that you should be in masters.

Day job as scientist, evening job as dance teacher! Sounds good!

I think making it compulsory is wrong - you don't change that much between 34 and 35   Perhaps they could have a gray area - 30 -40 or something, where you could do either.
