Explanation from a wonderful Canadian pro: "There has to be space between the man's pelvis and woman's pelvis in order to allow our legs to swing freely. This space is what is know as 'ballroom'".

when you practice with some british coaches they can really be, hm, i would say direct.
one of the sentences we use very often is - make your self available and make it juicy.
