I'm sure we've alll looked them up on utube - videos of champions doing basics or demonstrating an open move... My favorite is Mirko and Alessia doing basic waltz...
she's my role model...

I love Luca's ease of movement and control but am not so keen on his back.

Now I can't believe I wrote this. It just goes to show how much I have learned in less than a year - this video looks rather forced and unmusical - it does not play to Mirko's strength...

I think a lot of people think the same. But when it comes to fluid movement he's the best. Fortunately, there are different styles that are all excellent - and one can pick and choose to suit your own strengths....

I think it is good to look at a variety as they all give you the same information in a different way and one might just reinforce the other... and I find it great to review them often

Hmm. When I read the title, I thought this thread was about instructional DVDs for purchase. I'm not a big fan of the youtube videos I've seen because they tend to be a bit short on explanation -- demonstration yes; explanation, not so much.
I have a boat load of instructional stuff that I bought from DanceVision (American style stuff, not International) and some of the videos are quite good... BUT they tend to conform to the specific syllabus (DVIDA) that Dance Vision uses, so they can be of limited usefulness, if you dance in a studio system that uses a different syllabus. This is especially true if you're at lower levels. It can be very confusing, because the pattern names can be different, syllabus to syllabus, and the patterns included in each level and sub-level are slightly different.

Good point. OTOH learning some other figures can help make you a better general follower. The more you know the less you have to learn when he leads them...
