What about the poor people without A/C?  Do they have shelters to go to?

well that is the problem there are no shelters.  most would sit in shopping centres, but have to leave when they close. the elderly are at great risk as they often suffer in silence.

At that heat there must be worse than suffering - presumably someone is keeping stats on heat-related death...

Boy it is cold here this last couple of weeks. We have had between -2 to -10. The sun is still out making it appear warmer than it really is. The plants are all dying as they are not used to this kind of weather.

the weather is doing very strange things everywhere, we are having hot temps the highest ever recorded. We are going to Europe soon and it is very cold over there. something that will be foreign to us as  we never get below  9 degrees during the day time, can go lower at night.

Last year I bought my brother snow shoes but he never got to use them since we didn't really get much snow.  This year he bought me snow shoes and with the temperatures staying between 10 and 15C I'm not sure we will be using them.  Trees that are used to the cold for winter are dying and insect infestation in the trees and in the nests of the squirrels and such are going to create havoc again.  The animals are out of hybernation and I have even been seeing flies and other insects out and about.  Weather that is not natural always comes at a cost.
I am just looking at the long term forcast and it appears that we will be hanging around the -3 mark but only trace snow and even rain.  This will not be good for the wells and waterways that count on the snow melt to bring the water levels back up in the Spring.

I guess our climate is moving north - and the US climate is moving here.  So look out for mild winters and ghastly summers....
