I think you mean collar not colour he! Or maybe you meant the colour of the collar
And its a good point - even the most long necked guy can look short with a too big collar.

I also suggest comparing your colalr height to lapel thickness. If you have a really thick/wide lapels on your jacket (or vest, oif course), a taller collar seems to balance it better. Least, that's advice I've gotten on a discussion of regular men's clothing, not necessarily dance.
