Inspired by Ginger's blog/rant about unpleasant things leads do at dances and Q's observation, in another thread, that older women become invisible.

Ginger went on at length about skin care for leads.  I found that a bit beyond the pale, but it got me thinking.

How much of social dance popularity do you think can be attributed to physical attractiveness or lack of it?  Does being heavy, older, unattractive, etc, mean that you're' destined to become a social dance scene pariah?  Why or why not?

ETA: I originally entitled this thread ugly people don't get dances but decided to change the title in deference to Q's feelings.  I decided to phrase things positively. Smiley
