This was in the local news today.http://dance.broadwayworld.com/article/Dance-Council-of-North-Texas-to-Partner-with-DISD-Homeless-Education-Program-20130627
A local dance council has gotten a (very small) grant to teach dance to homeless children. In the past week, I've also come across dance marathons for cancer awareness and a bunch of other things. I've also attended countless fund raisers where the proceeds were donated to some worthy cause.
To be honest, I have an IRL goal that is related to both dance and community activism.
So question for you. Do you think that these types of events really make a difference in the lives of the people they touch? Or is it just another way for charity givers to feel good about themselves without actually accomplishing anything?
If these events are effective, why? How? If you were to participate in such an event, what would you like o see?
