It astonishes me how consistent the results are for the top 6.  Look at the DSI scoring - everyone came exactly as predicted by their prior results.  Is there really that much difference between them that the judges can give them precisely the same sequence?

And they did have 25/13/7 couples, so that confirms the 'at least %50' call-back rule.

Same judges; same competitors. Same results unless there's a major game changer.  The nature of the beast, I suppose.*shrug*

I haven't seen any new video pop up on youtube.  I'd love to see the standard semis and finals. Has anybody found footage?   Cool

Oh wow. So much anticipation, and it's over already.  But, as Michael Malitowski says,  the day after Blackpool, you start planning for next year's Blackpool. Smiley

Oh yeah.  And I tried DSI London's site, but couldn't access it. Maybe it's down due to overload?

I don't know if it was posted on this board or not - but Edita said in her interview that WDC (so blackpool in this case) in Standard is slightly too conservative. In that sense, it is hard to change your placement.

I think in Latin, there is some shuffling? Personally, I think that that is really exciting.

Latin has reached a plateux largely I think because it has not had a clear world champion for a while - that means the judges don't know which way to go Grin and they are looking for resolution and new blood.

My (biased) take: watch for Maurizio and Andra breaking through in the next year Wink  I'm watching the dance world falling in love with Andra.  That picture on FB with her smiling (now her profile picture) just says it all - how could everyone not fall in love?  Smiley

Perhaps we are due also in Standard ...

Did she mean WDC as compared to WDSF philosophy?  I could swear I've seen some discussion about that.  Must google. Cool

I think in Latin, there is some shuffling? Personally, I think that that is really exciting.

The commentators mentioned that there was at least one newcomer to the pro designation at the (I think) semi-finals at Blackpool this year.  They also mentioned a new partnership.  (Might've been quarter-finals *shrug* )

I'm only starting to follow these things so I may be wrong (topic of another couple threads, probably) but, unless my googling is wrong, neither of those things affected the final result this year. Maybe next year.

But that is what I meant by game changers -- new partnerships, partnership breakups, major injuries, retirements, pro/am status changes.  Unless that happens, I can easily see how the finalist ranks would be the same year after year.  We're talking a very elite level of dance athlete, and the rules favor people who've already won.   My thoughts only. Cool

We now have two separate international organizations for ballroom - the WDC and the WDSF (was IDSF).  What she meant I think that the WDC world championships (which run entirely separately form the WDSF - and is 'Blackpool') is very conservative.  Basically, they are very reluctant to replace a world champion until they choose to retire.

Oh yeah. I know about the two organizations and the *ahem* territorial fights between the two lo these many years.  Cool

I could've sworn I also read some online speculation about one of the orgs favoring bolder, more envelop-challenging dancing than the other.  (Maybe on Dance Forums?  Hmm.  I'll go have a look.  Smiley  )

Yes.  The WDC/WDSF conversation may be related to this interview with Edita (and Mirko, sorta.)
