Yes, social studio. I just wish I could have been a bit more diplomatic about it. Ah well...

He was always very supportive of me, of what I wanted to do with my dancing. I haven't met any other teacher/coach like that since.

dhuh.
I missed the point - meant you were telling him you were going to find a 'real' teacher?  I thought you were going to take more lessons with him.

face-palm myself!

My biggest facepalm dancing moment was when I told my first dancing teacher I wanted to get more serious about my dancing. Seriously? Why?!?! I had been with him 11 years and then I go say this?? I still cringe every time I think about it.   Undecided
How did he react - I think mine would be excstatic Smiley

He was actually quite supportive but I still think he was a bit hurt.   Undecided

I would have been laughing my socks off...Anyone can take them selves too seriously, but when enlightened you can laugh and THEN GET REALLY SERIOUS

it happens, but I agree I would have said OK lets get started. I have been to teachers who had some students that never improved and he just took their money because they did not want to learn any more, it was almost a social talk fest :-/. You ave to say upfront what your expectations are and social teachers will teach you to get around the floor, finessing it is the next level.

It sounds to me like this teacher knew there was no longer a match.   It happens.  Not all teacher/student relationships were meant to last forever.

Not dance-related.

I wish I hadn't accepted this job. I feel for the people and the outcomes, but  I have to move on for myself. *sigh*

Agreed to pay DS for doing household chores.  It's not much money, but I fear I'm sending the wrong message. Parenthood. *sigh*

MY sprog is now getting pocket money for doing chores; when she wanted to buy a doll with her own money, she had the money but I made her earn points by doing little helpful things. i thinka combination of sharing household duties and getting paid is healthy.

I have to admit that DS is a lot more careful with his money, now that he's earning it rather than getting it for "free."  And he's anxious to do chores, because now chores are earning power for him.
