This topic came up because of a tango festival which will be held next weekend. In it, there will be a weekend-long intensive which is aimed at people who know nothing about tango and/or danced some tango log ago, but who have forgotten most of it.  The intensive supposedly covers everything that is normally covered in a four-week class and gets people ready for "advanced beginner classes."

Question to tango people (especially tango teachers)  if you were to design a weekend intensive or four-week class just for "absolute beginners," what elements of tango do you think would be essential to cover?

Interesting what is the most common mistake in doing Tango, is rising and not remaining flat. I am sure the very basics of tango would be enough to fill up a good day Cheesy

I find it strange that they're offering a weekender.  I would think that some concepts would require practice time to sink in. *shrug*
