Does anybody use ballroom dance specific apps?

If you go to facebook, there's an app called "Ballroom" which helps Ballroom and Latin dancers find partners.  There's also a guy, Krogholm,  who's been on several sites soliciting ideas for how to improve his iPhone app for music for competition rounds.   ($1.99 at the iPhone app store and it apparently works very well. And there is an updated version  in the works. ) )

Very cool that ballroom folks are using new media to spread the word and make life easier.

Does anybody have experience with these apps or others?  Any ideas for great dance-related apps that would be nice to have?

Here's the promotional info on Krogholm's competition music app.    Cool

Can you give me a link?  I can't find it...

Here it is.  I didn't sign up, but, when you launch the app, it gives you a page that asks for some general information and preferences.  Pretty cool.

There is no Android version, right now and, right atm, the developer is not planning to write one. Something to do with the difficulty of getting on the Android platform, though I can't remember all the details.   (The developer is all over the web, answering questions and soliciting feedback.)

I suppose I should add, though, that it does sound like a really usefulapp, if you have the right hardware to use it.  A randomized play list per dance, with built-in breaks between, so that it mimics really competition rounds.

I saw his post on at least three (or is it four?) different ballroom discussion forums in the past week. He got some good reviews from people who bought the app; he got some feedback about how to improve the next iteration, and he got a few requests for an Android version.

Where there's dance discussion, there's hope. Maybe Android's coming Smiley

Holy [use your imagination!]  There are more apps!

Here's one that's in the itune app store:  Ballroom dance for beginners and intermediates.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ballroom-dancing-for-beginners/id417712608?mt=8

It supposedly contains 205 video lessons, including some of the following. I think it's international style, because the advert mentions Strictly Come Dancing.

Cha Cha Dance Lesson For Beginners
Ballroom Dance Lessons Beginner Cha-Cha
Ballroom Dancing For Beginners Rumba Footwork In Beginning Ballroom Dancing Part 1
Ballroom Dancing Beginner Video Lesson On Waltz
Ballroom Dancing For Beginners Foxtrot Footwork For Beginning Ballroom Dancing
Ballroom Dancing For Beginners Waltz Steps For Men In Ballroom Dancing For Beginners

And a bunch more.

And another one.  Dance app looks like ballroom dance lessons.  Not sure why anybody would take dance lessons on their phone  or tablet.  That's an awfully small screen. But to each his own, I suppose.

indeed does appear to be pretty restrictive, could be better placed for  revision perhaps.

Indeed.

It is good to see that ballroom dance is coming on board with newer technologies, though.  It'not all that long ago that I had a studio owner tell me that she didn't believe she needed a website.  (Seriously!?! )

I would love to have an app where you could track patterns or technique covered and add in your own notes from a lesson. Been doing that in Excel for years, myself.

I would like it that an app is made for your theory tests, that would be great, there are 100's of questions and if you are travelling much better than trying to carry books
