I have only experienced a few very crowded floor - normally, I will just sit out and watch people dancing. I mean, I LOVE watching people dancing, their smiles, laughter. And their dancing.

thats lovely
there are usually more people who want to be seen than actually want to watch so any good audience is greatly appreciated - its actually an art, as for listening to live music. Few people really do either well.

this is whre NV dancing comes in very handy.....everyone doing the same thing on the floor going in the same direction you can have 100's on the floor.
Makes sense. You don't have to worry about that pesky floorcraft nearly as much, because you know where everywhere is and have a good idea of where they're going to b next.
OTOH what happens when one person trips
Everyone drops in sequence?
well I have yet to see that happen. but most of the time there are two or three rows , otherwise you take smaller steps. :-/ but it is social dancing after all

I still try to maintain my shaping but drop the arm work and make the steps 3/4 steps. I never do a quick step on the social floor with everyone trying to do fancy steps badly :-/

That's wise. Giant moves and huge arm styling have given a lot of ballroom dancers terrible reputations on the social dance floor.

yes, they already sigh when you walk in the door, but some people do appreciate the dancing that we try to do
we have inspired a few people to give at least medals a go.

I'm sure it's less true in the ballroom social versus competitive world, but, in the salsa scene, for example, people who use up a lot of floor space are pretty much universally hated.
I think it's wise to proceed with caution.
