Hi my name is Semra, I am a Ballroom, New Vogue and Latin Dancer.
I have been dancing for about 3.5 years in these styles previously i did Irish dancing for about 13 years. I love dance it's the one thing in my life that truly makes me happy and I believe it's the one thing I have to do in this life to feel fulfilled as a person.
I love competing (although I have only competed in medalist competitions), and i am looking to register soon with a dance partner. If you haven't worked it out I am also looking for a dance partner hehe, so if there are any guys out there around Melbourne, Australia give me a message haha.  Grin

Welcome! to another Aussies, there are a few of us around. Yes that eternal partner search...wish I could help you but at the moment I am in Adelaide and have not heard on the grapevine of anyone looking for a partner. Zac one of our members was looking for a partner but I don't know if you are in the right age bracket.

Good luck with your search...you may wish to put some other information on our partner search page ol it gives people of an idea which age group etc you are looking for

Happy Dancing

certainly is... perhaps we have aussie guy readers ...
Have you looked at dancepartner.com?  It has a lot of dancers on it - but the fees for contacting them are outrageous.  However, sometimes you can figure out where they are without paying or you can at least get an idea where to look Wink  I did join once but with not much success - I found my partner (of over 4 years now) through personal contact - at a social dance club.

its most important to 'get it out there' that you are looking.  That means using whatever local networks there are - and this is beyond on-line (though that is obviously important).  We have dance halls as well as studios - the latter have pros whereas teh former are really just places to dance.  You could look even non-dance places like work or college since at your stage you could start with a non-dancer and bring him into dancing.  Are you in college now?

Lol i have already tried bringing someone into dancing but it's the frustration of waiting for someone to get up to speed when they are already 3 years behind you and you are still moving forward, I also have the difficulty of finding someone that isn't massively taller than me because I'm 5'0 and it is really difficult to dance with someone that is like 5'9 or 10. I've finished high school if that what you mean, I'm not at university.

Shocked so you have the same problem I have - but obviously for the opposite reason.  Maybe we should have a topic on height in ballroom... hang on...

I had a chat to him and he said that he is pulling away from ballroom while he is doing his uni studies so he isn't looking for a partner anymore

Que sera - OTOH he also said he would look out for possibilities for you.  Thats exactly what you need people in the 'scene' with an eye out...
