definitely Latin... at the moment... with my missing cartilage and backward locks are very tricky. but I hope in time this will improve. I do love doing Latin, but not competitively.

You might want to talk to a specialist to see if latin is a good idea with your particular knee injury.  Just to be safe...
Oh I wont be going out my way to do it I can assure you. need every bit of what is left of my cartilage for my modern, which is our priority

Um, if either is more stressful on the joints than walking then you might want to reconsider your approach.  Ballroom dancing can actually help improve your overall well being and not deteriorate it in any shape or form.  I used to have bad ankles and knees all my life.  Now they're better than they've ever been.  I also used to have arch problems and lack of cushioning in the balls of my feet which used to require medication given to arthritic patients (!!).  That's gone too, thank goodness.

I agree with that. I think that since the operation I have had issues with fluid build up which then puts pressure on the joints. I am only just starting to get a normal gait come back so this may allow me to get back to latin dancing.

Not that I am in a hurry.....but I feel I am getting over the hump! Grin
