modesty is not a virtue i value anymore...though i grew up believing it to be morally valuable. don't give a rat's patootie about it, now. IME, the pursuit of modesty is tied closely to its shadow quality, hubris.
i found the antidote to both modesty & hubris to be the same thing: to just be true and present to the reality of "what is", both strengths & weakenesses, without the need to hide or undermine either.
