What would happen if you created your own extra step sequence that was more interesting than the dance as written? Would you be instantly disqualified?
Which made me wonder how old these dances really are? Is it possible that some go back to middle ages Europe and have been little changed?
Sometime in the 1930s I think. But I understand that this one is based of the Old Time dance called Eva 3 Step which according to one website is from 1904. The old time dances are polished European folk dances, and there's no telling how far back they go.

Yes you would be disqualified. The dances are written in stone. The only leniency is with arm lines when you get to open level.

I'm not, this is just an attempt to dislike the dance less.
LOL!
E3S is way down there on the list of NV dances...right with Gypsy Tap and Charmaine, for me.
heh heh.... I like E3S. If I had to do it for a competition, I would probably hate it. But I love doing it at socials, especially if the music is very energetic and fun. I love doing the spins, and I'm a big fan of any kind of waltz. I love that it's very simple. You don't need much technique to enjoy it and since there is little lead/follow your partner's ability doesn't matter as much (except for the waltz bit
)
One of the studios here always start their socials with E3S. I find that it works very well as a warm up dance

Oh. I am so confused. It's a beginner dance that you dance socially, competitively, and/or get medals in?
Cute videos, btw, QPO.

It is done of of the above....it is a march timing (4/4) one of the tempos that must be done in NV, it is fading out and they are currently reviewing the dances that are done competitively. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
but very good dance for beginners it is uncomplicated and they feel that they have achieved success which is a good thing.

That's interesting. Who decides which daces are done competitively? And based on what,if you know? (If not, that's fine. I'm just curious.

there are 15 to choose from and they have been set that way for a long time(50 years?) but they have just done a survey asking input from those that do it, the results have not been released so will be interesting to see if they will make changes for that. there are only four styles in NV
March
Tango
SVW
Foxtrot
there are some great Latin NV dances would be nice to see that introduced...
