Or it could be that there are couples who are just as good but who are unknown/new/ have taken coaching from the "wrong" people etc and who will never win or place highly.

I feel Victor Fund is a victim of timing. He is such a good dancer but always get stuck at being number three....I wonder what it is they are doing that judges don't like?

who knows.  I think he's doing the iron man approach: keep going till everyone else dies off... But whats the bet some new star will sneak in there...

That would be my guess.  If things shake up enough for him to rise to #1, then they will have shaken up enough for a new couple to rise to the top.

I'd be very surprised if dancing ability was the only factor.

well I don't know next time my visiting coach comes I will ask him why he thinks so, but I get the impression that the markings are not honest. In fact he did say what we have said before the Arunus and Katsuha can fall over get out of time and still win :/

Joanna Leunis did fall during one of the heats at Blackppol and she and Michael Malitowski went on to win.

Just sayin.  Cool

I don't think a fall is noticed by the judges - at that level.  OTOH if you slip in a pro-am comp Sad Sad

well at the last comp the usual suspects won but when reflecting on the marking it was  not because they got all 1's so things might be about to change. People get tired of having to keep up the standard I think so it will be interesting to see what changes will occur this year.

All you can do is focus on your own dancing - its all you have control over.  Besides, that's the real goal right?  Becoming a better dancer...
