This year is seeing some changes to Crown, by the looks of it.

Medalists on the Saturday, everyone else on Sunday, and a ball on Monday.

Have mixed feelings about the separate day for medalists...it's going to mess with our flight plans...DP doesn't like travelling the day before a comp, so he'll want to fly over a day earlier. But then we've got Uni that week, so we'll most likely miss lectures.
OTOH, it's pretty cool to have a day for ourselves.

Still no event listing, by the looks of it.

Not this year. they have turned it into a national comp which means you rceive 5 elevatuion points and have to go to the next level instantly. We have just elevated from level 3 to 4 and if it is anything like last year, not many attend at the numbers on the floor were not strong, we would likely elevate again and be considered Open.

have to be selective this year as to what we entered, have to learn New rotuines and need to consolidate.

It'd be nice if you could choose not to elevate, say, within the first 6 months of your new level. That way you wouldn't get moved up too quickly if not many people were on the floor.

The medallist section will probably be huge...not really hoping for fantastic results...we really didn't do well last year, but hopefully we can at least make some finals.

How many couples constitute an 'elevating' heat?  I mean it would be absurd if you were the only ones, or just you and a couple of carpetbaggers...

Here you have to have 6 and then three such wins to get elevated.

here you have to have four on the floor, and they dont tell you before you go...so it is a susprise (or should I say dissapointment) when they only have three or four. I would rather they combine events to have more people on the floor.

under four you dont have to take them, but this is for a national title, not sure what they have do for championships.   but I think if there are not six on the floor they should not be awarded an instant elevation.

What would happen if you walked off the floor if there were only four couples?  Might be a great protest too...

BTW - we always have programs that list how many couples are in the heat (excepting late registrants of course).

yes but they are only available on the day and not before, and if you call the organiser they are not keen to let you know just incase you decide not to come

yes we want be attending this year, now that it is a national....I don't think the event qualifies as National material

no local comps are not effected. there are now five nationals a year between NSW and VIC. I will go to other championships, the nationals have become too expensive and I could go to two championships instead of one national

Then I don't really understand the Australian dance structure.  I think we need a topic..
