1020 - how was it for you?

Its been a fantastic year all round. Dance has blossomed, as has my violin hobby, had a paper in a top journal and, best of all, I now have a grandchild (and am closer to my son&wife). A lot to be thankful for... Indeed, if I look at any negative things, they really are very minor indeed!

very challenging. very enlightening. very creative, and productive in its own way. transformational. i straddled a paradox of extremes...and am looking to more solidified stability in 2011. and...more dancing.

it has been a very mixed year with Highs and lows. the knee of couse was a low point and having to spend so much time off the floor and gaining so much wieght!. The highlight is getting back on the floor despite a bad leg and winning the aussies.
on a personal front I cant complain I have the love of my close friends and family and I enjoy my job......
Overall it has been a wonderful year!

Well, I was in a previous life at that time but I think it was okay. Can't remember if that was when I was Oriental or Egyptian.
As for 2010 it was another difficult year but I live in the now as much as I can so try not to get too down about it. I don't want to be a victim twice, once from my circumstances and the second time from dwelling on it. One never knows what is around the corner. Life can change at the drop of a hat.
My brother said something that made me think. As many of you probably know he has been fighting terminal cancer and his wife has been fighting MS. They've been having a very difficult time physically, mentally and financially and during a recent bleak time when they got taken for $250 in a scam Rick told Cathy that they must remember that they are living someone's dream. They are both very ill but they have had a fairy tale marriage that you only see in the movies. They have a small home but it is theirs. They have grand children and two great dogs that they love. They both have family they are close to and can count on and they can still get around and do things. For many people around the world this would only be a dream. I realized he is so right. I still have a home, I have three cats I love, a great brother, a great dance partner and my health is good. I'm still phsically fit, still look okay and have friends. Many people can only dream of dancing how we do or at the level we are at or even being able to dance at all. The hard times have made me realize I don't need what I thought I did and you have to live in the now. Instead of crying about what you don't have make the most of what you do have. Don't be sad about what may happen tomorrow when still have today.

this is true R I am always amazed at the resilience of human beings in times of adversity...most are quite philosophical, I wish them the very best for 2011 and hope that they continue to have such a positive outlook on life

Fantastic post R. Its so easy to focus on what you don't have - and in the process lose even what you do!
